Having trouble finding a bicycle that's comfortable? You're not alone. Most bicycles aren't made to handle more than ~200 pounds. A New York company is making bicyles expecially for overweight users. The bicycles have a low center of gravity to handle better, puncture-resistant tires and gel-padded seats. You can see the bike called "A New Leaf" at Super Sized Cycles
Comment: Becoming (and remaining) active is an important part of keeping weight off. This company does us all a great service by providing bicycles that larger individuals can use in comfort and safety.
There's been a lot of talk about how subtle changes in our surroundings have helped us eat more than we should. For example, dinnerware is larger than it used to be. Dinner plates may now be as wide as 12 inches! Television, by distracting us from what we are doing (eating) allows us to eat more without noticing. Even dimmed room relaxes us and take our attention away from what we are doing (eating).
Comment:Its important to realize how our surroundings can affect us. Try using smaller plates and bowls. Get away from the television at meal-time. If possible, try to eat in a well-lit space that is just for dining. For more on this, check out Brian Wansink's "Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think"
Obsity is one of the most common problems seen by small-animal veterinarians. More than 25% of our pets are overweight or obese.
Comment:Obesity leads to health problems in your pet just as it will in you! Feel your pet's ribs. Normally, you should feel them easily. If you feel fat between hide and rib, your pet may be overweight. Check with your veterinarian.
